WORKSHOP DETAILS

Minnesota Compass (www.mncompass.org) is a community indicators project that has compiled trends in quality of life for the state of Minnesota and its local communities for more than 15 years. Since our founding, Minnesota Compass has engaged thousands of advisors to identify what is most important for measuring progress in our state and communities. In this presentation, project director Allison Liuzzi will discuss our advisory group structure and process, including lessons on:

  • Identifying and recruiting a diverse group of stakeholders for advisory groups,
  • Considering content and structure for advisory group meetings,
  • Assembling, reviewing, and making recommendations based on advisory group feedback,
  • Ensuring that diverse perspectives are welcomed, included, heard, and valued, and
  • Building consensus across differences.

In addition to the broad parameters of our advisory group process, this presentation will share specific lessons and reflections from our recent topic advisory groups focused on Compass’s Health and Public Safety topic areas.
