The Community Indicators Consortium is inviting you to submit a chapter for our upcoming book, Community Quality-of-Life Indicators: Best Cases X, to be published by Springer in the Fall of 2022. This volume will contain case studies and research highlighted from the Community Indicators Consortium 2021 Virtual Impact Summit. The volume will contribute to the Springer book series on Community Quality-of-Life Indicators. The first volume in this series was published in 2006.

Volume Focus:  This volume will continue the tradition now established since 2006, of compiling excellent research into the practice and application of community indicators in a single source volume. This volume focuses on the theme of the 2021 conference: Community Indicators for Change: Responding, Rebuilding, and Advancing Equity.  The Community Indicators Consortium 2021 Summit is a significant venue for the advancement of the practice and theory of indicators work.  Whether or not you presented at the conference, you are invited to share your work or research on how data are creating a world for the better - whether it’s responding to the impacts and implications of the COVID-19 pandemic or advancing access and equity for all people. 

In keeping with the practical, “best cases” emphasis of this book series, we welcome a case-based approach to chapters discussing how specific indicators, indices or series of indicators can lead to building equitable and resilient communities and prepare for both the expected and the unexpected to sustain and improve quality of life.  We are looking for lessons and innovations that can be used by community planners, applied researchers, and other engaged professionals as good examples or "prototypes" of community quality-of-life indicators work, including: 

• evolving approaches or practices that use and share indicators to improve equity, well-being and quality of life
• research related to community indicators and policy, application, research, and/or practice
• technology and approaches to data sharing and data-focussed collaboration
• techniques and approaches to measure equity and resilience

Volume Editors: Frank Ridzi (Central New York Community Foundation/Le Moyne College), Chantal Stevens (Community Indicators Consortium), Patsy Kraeger (Georgia Southern University)

Deadlines:

• February 25, 2022: Intend to submit with provisional title and brief description
• April 29, 2022: First draft 
• May-August: review by editors and referees. Requests for changes and edits.
• September 2022: Completed manuscript submitted to publisher

Submission Guidelines: 

• The paper should be typed in either Arial or Times Roman, font size 10-12 with a margin of 1 inch on all sides.
• The paper should be double-spaced.
• Paper length should be at least 10 pages and not exceed 30 pages in total including references, tables, and figures.
• Reference style: American Psychological Association (APA) style is preferred.
• E-mail attachment is the preferred mode of submission. Submit paper electronically to chantal@communityindicators.net
• All submissions should be original and not previously published. The submitted paper should not be submitted simultaneously to other publication outlets.

Guidelines for Paper Selection and Final Manuscript Preparation:

• The editors, in consultation with 2-3 referees who are experts in the field, will make the final decision concerning acceptance or rejection.
• It is very likely that the editors will request changes to the accepted papers based on the reviewers’ suggestions. All changes should be completed by September 2, 2022
